Working with local organizations through Intact's Community Engagement program is a great way to get involved in activities outside of our work that humbles you and teaches empathy. Those same qualities I apply to my work. We work in an industry where we sell a promise. When we work with our local food banks, I love seeing the boxes and bags of food sorted and organized for distribution. It's something physical that you know a family in need can take and plan out their meals. It feels good to be a part of the local solution.

When I found out about the introduction of Employee Resource Groups to the U.S., I knew I had to be part of that growth -- for the company and for myself. The collaboration with colleagues to help build this foundation and get this employee network group off the ground has been a pleasure to be a part of. Intact's Learning & Development programs have allowed me to sharpen my soft skills such as leadership, communication, interviewing, and more. I began my career with Intact in 2009 as a Broker Service Specialist, where I learned about broker contracts, broker approvals, state rules and our lines of business. I then moved up within Operations and into a leadership position where I played a large role in the underwriting support life cycle from binding and issuing policies, to renewal set up. As Operations grew, I grew right with it! Now as an Operations Manager, I am very proud to be part of a team that supports our businesses in more ways than one.

Lucas, Vice President, Inland Marine

My journey at Intact spans 16 years, with 19 in the industry. I began as an Ocean Marine Underwriter Trainee, which was a key turning point of my career. After a brief departure from the company, I returned with a passion for underwriting in the Inland Marine industry and a renewed appreciation for Intact. We are always learning and the variety the job provides the perfect balance of in-office analytical work and out of office work, such as building relationships with our producer partners. The people I work with make each day enjoyable, and the fast-paced environment keeps me engaged, empowering me, as well as my team, to make impactful decisions.

I have been with Intact since 2000. Over the years, I have worn many hats - starting in reinsurance, then becoming the Head of Producer Management where I managed broker relationships, worked closely with each of our lines of business, and managed my first team. These were a great building block to where I am today -- now overseeing our Operations team. I've had the privilege of working alongside talented professionals who drive our success. Navigating the unique challenges we face as we grow and modernize is what I love most about my role. The incredible people and supportive environment make Intact a truly special place to work.

I started my journey as an Actuarial Trainee where I worked on the pricing for our Entertainment and Specialty Property lines of business. Looking back, key turning points in my career included passing my first actuarial exam which opened wonderful opportunities, and my first rotation within the department moving from the pricing team to the reserving team. This allowed me to deepen my understanding of the industry and the broader organization. Intact is always encouraging employees to step into new challenges. Now working in Strategy & Corporate Development, I enjoy the constant learning opportunities and the ability to make an impact by using my analytical background.
